Heathfield and Waldron Millennium Green was established in the year 2000. It’s run by Heathfield and Waldron Millennium Green Trust. The Trustees run the Green, improve the facility, and maintain it to a high standard.
The site of the Green is approximately 5.26 hectares of natural woodland extending along the line of the old railway (dismantled) situated immediately towards the north western end of the high street in Heathfield.
It is to be used for play and other leisure time occupations, a meeting area or place for community events for the general benefit of the community. The Trust is a registered charity supported by voluntary contributions.
Millennium Greens are areas of green space for the benefit of local communities. 245 were created in cities, towns and villages across England to celebrate the turn of the Millennium. Their creation was funded in part by the National Lottery via the Countryside Agency. Each one is different, as local people have had an input into the design of their green.
The Trustees run The Green, improve the facility, and maintain it to a high standard.
We are exceptionally grateful for our maintenance grant from the Parish Council. We are also very grateful for donations from individuals and companies and subscriptions from Friends of the Green, which, although smaller amounts, are very welcome indeed.
Educational Boards are being erected to display information about the local environment to enrich the visitor experience, funded by another local charity, East Sussex Proficiency Test Committee.
